What do I get?

An account, the whole course, and a real compiler that runs your code and gives back what it actually said. No exercise is behind a wall and no feature is held back.

What does it cost?

Nothing today, and everything you can reach right now stays free for the account you already have.

It will not be free forever, and saying otherwise would be a lie: compiling other people's code costs real money, and the person running this needs to eat. Expect paid plans for the parts that cost the most to serve, or for things that do not exist yet. It will be said here first, the course itself stays usable without paying, and nothing you have already earned gets moved behind a paywall.

What is not promised?

The site is provided as it is. It may be slow, it may be down, it may change, and it may stop. Your progress is kept as carefully as a small site can keep it, which is not a guarantee. Nothing here is a warranty, and nobody running it is liable for what happens if it breaks. That is the standard clause and it is meant exactly as plainly as it reads.

What is asked of me?

• One account per person, with a real email address you control.
• The compiler is for the exercises. Not for mining, not for attacking anything, not for serving traffic, and not as free build capacity. It is one small machine with a queue behind you.
• Do not work around the rate limits or the human check. They are what keeps the compiler available to people doing the course.
• Do not paste in code that is not yours to paste.

An account doing any of that can be removed without notice, though in practice being asked to stop comes first.

Who owns what?

The code you write stays yours; nothing you type here is claimed by anyone. The exercises are rustlings', under the MIT licence, and the crab is OpenMoji's, under CC BY-SA 4.0. Both licences are reproduced in full on the credits page, which forms part of these terms. The interface, the writing and the code running the site are codecrab's: reading them, learning from them and quoting them is welcome, republishing the site as your own is not.

How do I leave?

Reset progress in your profile clears what you have done. To delete the account itself, mail hello@codecrab.app and it goes, with the progress row. What is held in the meantime is on the privacy page.

If these terms change, the date above changes. Carrying on using the site is how the new version is accepted, and the way out is to stop and ask for the account to be deleted.
